The Binder of Women is proud to introduce its second folio. Following the success of their first, BOW has expanded its roster and will release its second limited edition of prints and unique variants by 16 Los Angeles based female artists. The release of the inaugural Binder was followed by much success for both the collective and the artists individually.
For the second edition, artists Michelle Blade, Claire Colette, Yasmine Diaz, Jamie Felton, Rema Ghuloum, Janna Ireland, Kysa Johnson, Galia Linn, Bruna Massadas, Sarana Mehra, Maysha Mohamedi, Erin Morrison, Laurie Nye, Hilary Pecis, Julia Schwartz, and Ginger Wolfe-Suarez have contributed small-scale works on paper ranging from representational and unique paintings to abstract and gestural forms with pressed paper. The project offers ten limited edition sets containing a signed work by each of the artists.
Since the launch of BOW in 2017 the art world has continued to move to correct its historical imbalance in representation and appreciation of women and underrepresented communities. There has been a rallying cry vibrating across the art world that this is the time for womxn and POC to reclaim their place in art history. We aim to contribute to that forward motion.
Binder of Women is an independent platform for contemporary artists to empower female artists, expand their reach, broach the topic of equality and consent in the art world, and take action to grow the number of works by female-identifying artists in contemporary art collections. A diverse group of artists working in different media, BOW contributors have exhibited widely across the United States and internationally. It includes recipients of major grants and awards, and artists who can be seen in major art collections throughout the world.
More information on the individual artists can be found on the BOW website.
The official launch will be at the Pit LA on November 3rd. A limited number will be available for pre-sale from our website.
BINDER OF WOMEN
Conceptualized in Los Angeles in 2017, Binder of Women is an independent platform for contemporary artists to directly share their work as they see fit. This is a unified move to empower female identifying artists, expand their reach, broach the topic of equality and consent in the art world, and take action to grow the number of works by female identifying artists in contemporary art collections.
